Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report! It has been a beautiful week of weather here in the upper Florida Keys, and a BIG full moon on Wednesday. The moon was a little hard on us in some ways, but nice in others.
The mahi fishing definitely slowed down as we expected with the clear skies and a large moon for the past few days, but should be picking up as the weekend approaches. There have been a few nice Blue Marlin caught on this moon, as well as a few nice wahoo, and the tunas have been all over the place with the current ripping up the road offshore! The offshore ledge has produced a few nice fish this week in the 200 pound range, with several smaller fish to boot, so this fishery has been fun this week.
The wrecks have been decent all week with an OK bite of mutton snappers, but a nice bite of king mackerel and a few wahoo mixed in. The July and August moons generally bring some wahoo to our area, so we are happy to capitalize when opportunity knocks. The reef this week was great with an incredible bite of mangrove snappers and yellowtails. Should get another month out of the mangroves, and hopefully the yellowtails continue to bite!
Well, that is all for this week! Be safe out there!
