Check out this weeks Islamorada fishing report from our expert charter captain James Chappell as he describes the deep sea and wreck & reef trips.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report!  Fishing has been pretty decent all week with a traditional mixed bag for this time of year as we expect!

Deep Sea Fishing - Swordfish Bite is Producing!!!

The offshore bite continues to improve with the mahi numbers growing on a daily basis.  The offshore bite slowed a bit with the moon, but that was expected, but the last few days have been pretty good.  The humps are holding Tunas of all sizes, and the Swordfish ledge has been producing for the past couple weeks.  Things are shaping up nicely, so we will see where it takes us over the weekend.  Saturday has little wind in it, but nothing crazy, and it comes down a bit on Sunday so we are looking good there.

Wreck & Reef Fishing - Still a Variety...Grouper Season is Open!

The bottom fishing has been picking up since the opening of Grouper season, and the Mutton Snapper bite too with the back of the moon.  Some east current on the reef top has definitely helped the cause and has also brought some Sailfish into our area.  It is feeling like a true spring condition and looking forward to things really heating up!

On That Note...

Well, that is it for this week!  Be safe out there, and check back next week for a new report!
